Flywheel Fund is a member-managed capital fund based in Bloomington, Indiana. From life sciences and medical devices with an emphasis on software and technology, we invest in early stage and high-potential startups. We commit a minimum of 13% of our funding to Black founders and teams.
Flywheel Fund is administered by The Mill, which is also 19,000 square feet of coworking and business incubator space. With over 225 members, our mission is to launch and accelerate high-potential companies, and our vision is to become the center of gravity for entrepreneurship in Indiana.
In 2019 alone, one of our member companies, FormAssembly, raised $10 million in Series A funding. Another, Cloudseal, after winning an SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) grant from the National Science Foundation, sold to Facebook.
Fund II will make six to eight investments of $50,000. A third of the fund is reserved for follow-on investments of $50,000 to $150,000 in Fund I's companies. The executive director of The Mill, Pat East, has been an active angel investor for 10 years, making 50 investments in 30 companies.
